about

On a recent trip to Los Angeles, I found a pair of shops that offer a welcome reprieve from the showy, label-worshiping shrines like Kitson and Fred Segal. The shop Lost and Found (Yucca Street; 323-856-5872) is actually five small storefronts that span a nondescript block of Yucca Street in Hollywood. It’s been around for almost a decade, but the owner Jamie Rosenthal, an ex-stylist who forages the globe for fashion, jewelry, textiles, housewares and accessories, has a laid-back attitude about courting press, or celebrities for that matter. Instead of House of Harlow maxidresses (when’s this trend going away?) courtesy of Nicole Richie, you’ll find all you need for that true Laurel Canyon (or Ibiza, or Marrakesh) boho lifestyle here — gauzy caftans, Baja shirts (made in Italy, no less), African trading beads, oversize scarves and stripey beach totes from France. And that’s just in the women’s shop. There’s kids, mens, housewares and even a quasi-garden and craft outlet.
